Zacks now provides a web-based API to allow financial application and website developers to access our stock data in a more efficient way that minimizes development resources required and provides more cost flexibility. At this point in time, you can use the Zacks API to get access to:
- Our most current consensus data, including earnings estimates, revenue estimates, analyst recommendations, target prices, and long term growth rates for US and Canadian traded stocks, as well as a selection of fundamental company profile data and end-of-day stock price data for US traded stocks.
- Up to 25 years worth of historical financial statement data in standardized industrial format for about 6,700 US traded companies culled from annual 10K and quarterly 10Q reports filed with the SEC.
We will soon be adding data for historical end-of-day stock prices, fundamental ratios, operational metrics, insider transactions, institutional holdings to the API. If you need more stock data for historical time periods, please contact us as shown below.
The Zacks API is managed by WebServius, an API management service with the mission of creating a connected world, where publishers and consumers of cloud-based software components can work together effortlessly to create useful and innovative solutions. The stock data behind the Zacks API is actually hosted by Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing division of Amazon.com, Inc. for maximum reliability and scalability.
SEO Benefits – If you are currently iFraming stock research data into your website which is hosted somewhere else, you get no search engine recognition for that because Google will actually ding you for using “copied content”. You can turn that problem around by using the Zacks data API to create your own original content which can be optimized to get recognition from search engines and drive more traffic to your website. Because you only have to pay for the data actually viewed on your website, the Zacks API makes this SEO technique very budget friendly and easy to execute.
In the Zacks API, data is priced by the “hit”. One hit equals a single pull for one stock data item, for one ticker, for one time period (fiscal year or fiscal quarter). So for example, if you pull this quarter’s EPS estimate for Microsoft, that’s one hit. The price per hit starts at $0.0006, or $0.60 per thousand hits. That means you can get this quarter’s EPS estimate for 1,000 tickers for 60 cents, or display this quarter’s EPS estimate for Microsoft to 1,000 website viewers for 60 cents. For client testing purposes, the first 10,000 hits are free. As your API usage increases, you can decrease your cost per hit to as low as 23 cents per hit by committing to monthly payments in one of several tiers, just like a cellphone payment plan.
Payment accounts are pre-funded, like Google Adwords. You fill your account according to your budget, then the account is drawn down as the API gets used. That puts you totally in control of the cost of the program.
